Primary Collecting Sites:
Our primary collecting sites for the first year of collecting are listed below. They were selected based on the presence of relatively undisturbed primary forest, their potential to support a wide diversity of Agaricales (i.e., presence of both ectotrophic and non-ectotrophic trees), and for their ease of access (both physically and politically). At the time of sampling, each collecting site will be geographically located using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, and the geocoordinates for each site along with the species occurring there will be entered into a Geographical Information System (GIS) that is currently being developed for Indonesia (in coordination with the Government of Indonesia Biodiversity Conservation Project and the Global Environmental Facilities Biodiversity Collections Project). Additional collecting sites will be sampled in subsequent years as time and resources permit. Permanent transects will be established at Cibodas Botanical Gardens and will be sampled every two weeks beginning in year 3 of the project.
