Gymnopilus subtropicus

	This species was described from material collected by Dr. Harry Thiers in Biloxi,
Mississippi, along with specimens collected from Hawai`i by Bessey. The pileus is
yellowish orange with fine fibrillose scales, and the stipe has a superior fugacious
cob-webby veil. It grows on logs of various hardwoods in alien forests throughout
the Hawaiian Islands.
