Galerina velutipes

Sing.

Morphologically this is one of the more odd species of Galerina . The strongly
decurrent lamellae and depressed pileus disc with conic papilla are certainly unusual
in the genus. First described from subtropical Argentina, G. velutipes is rather
common in lowland guava thickets on the island of Hawai`i. For a comparison with
allied taxa see Mycologia 88: 278-294, 1996
