This species was described from material collected in a greenhouse at the Geobotanical Institute in Zürich, Switzerland, and until now was known only from this obviously introduced population. We have collected it on the island of Hawai`i several times; once in Don Hemmes' backyard on bark of Trema , and several times on decaying red ginger stalks at the Univ. of Hawai`i Agriculture Farm in Hilo. For a description see Antonín et al. (Mycol. Helvetica 5: 33-38. 1992).
