This species, often known as Lepiota lutea or Leucocoprinus luteus , is commonly collected in greenhouses throughout the world. It grows commonly in gardens, flower pots and even occasionally in lowland alien forests throughout the Hawaiian Islands. It can cause severe gastrointestinal upsets if ingested. Another pale yellow species commonly collected in the Hawaiian Islands is L. fragillissimus (Rav.) Pat. found in Alien Wet Forests.
