Battarreoides diqueti

	This is one of the more odd stalked puffballs that has been collected rarely on the
dry side of the island of Hawai`i. The basidiospores are passively discharged through
the many small holes (ostioles) that develop in the endoperidium that encloses the
spore mass (gleba). Sort of a salt shaker on a stick. An allied taxon, Battarrea
phalloides
, also occurs in similar habitats on the islands of O`ahu and Hawai`i.
