If you are interested in eating Hawaiian mushrooms, this is another species you
must learn to identify and avoid ingesting. Although from above the pileus looks
very similar to numerous Lepiota and Agaricus species, a close look at the lamellae
will reveal greenish grey spores, best observed from a spore deposit. Chlorophyllum
molybdites
has a very wide distribution, but is most common in subtropical areas.
Ingestion usually causes severe gastrointestinal irritation and has even caused death
in small children.
