An excellent edible mushroom, Agaricus campestris can be found in cow
pastures on the islands of Maui and Hawai`i. It is distinguished from the many other
Hawaiian Agaricus species by its white, glabrous pileus, pink lamellae when young
(not grey), small and bandlike annulus, unchanging or faintly rubescent context,
pleasant odor and habit in pastures.
